Fly Plate Hangs in Japanese Fly Shop
The IFFF was fortunate to have international vendors at the Fair this year and one of them, Extreme Fishing Japan, took a piece of memorabilia back home to hang in their shop. The fly plate pictured was built by Jim Ferguson of the Oregon Council. The shop owners are displaying their plate and wanted to share a special thank you to everyone at the Fair.

Oregon Council in Portland
Fun was had by all at the Pacific Northwest Fly Tyers Rendezvous, an event produced by by the Fly Fishing Arts And Conservation Society in Portland OR. a non-profit consortium of local fishing and conservation groups. Several members of the Oregon Council were invited to tie at the event. Sherry Steele, Oregon Council board member thanked Hal Gordon for organizing such a great event.
Small Grants Awarded to Five Recipients
The Conservation Committee and the IFFF Board of Directors approved 5 small grants recently. Councils involved in the projects included Oregon, Southwest, Upper Midwest, Washington and Western Rocky Mountain.

IFFF Opposes Mining Operation Near Smith River in Montana
The leadership of the Federation recently sent a letter to Montana Governor Steve Bullock voicing concerns regarding the proposed mining operation near Smith River. Smith River is a premiere fishery in Montana that could be negatively be impacted by the mining operation that proposed by Tintina Resources.

The Silver Award Handbook for the Fly Tying Skills Award Program is now available online. The Fly Tying Group has completed the second phase of this program. Two levels, Bronze and Silver, are available to those tiers who want to achieve an award through the program.
